Kudos to Kik Interactive who has taken (or made) the decision to implement tools and steps to protect children and “is taking steps to make sure they [children] aren’t exploited while using it.”
Kik has about 74 million registered users aged between the ages of 13 and 18, and with the implementation of Microsoft’s PhotoDNA technology the tech company stands to detect and delete any child pornography on its network. Facebook and Twitter also utilize the technology in an aim to prevent exploitation and abuse of children online.
The issues of child exploitation and / or pornography is a terrible subject, and unfortunately it is a real issue! Mary L. Pulido provides the Basics Facts on Child Pornography, and who provides the frighteningly staggering comment “Child pornography is one of the fastest growing businesses online, with estimated annual revenue of $3 billion.” Shocking!!
It stills remains with us parents to ensure that our kids remain safe both online and off!
