Victorian schools (based in Victoria, Australia) have come under fire due to sexual abuse allegations, and ultimately threatened with enforcement of meeting minimum child safety standards.
Victorian schools will be deregistered if they don’t have policies to manage child abuse risks and respond to allegations. – Source
The Vermont Senate has endorsed the child safety bill that has been overhauled after the death of two toddlers last year, “Under the bill, failure to protect a child by someone who knew or should have known the child was in danger can be prosecuted as a felony. ” – Source
And one of the announcements to make headlines across all channels, The Consumer Product Safety Commission has approved a new Federal Safety Standard for Frame Child Carriers (unanimously). The following excerpt is from the cpsc.gov (with full reference below):
A frame child carrier is made of sewn fabric construction on a tubular metal or other frame and is designed to carry a child who weighs between 16 pounds and 50 pounds and who is able to sit upright unassisted. The frame carriers are worn on the back of the caregiver. This type of carrier is often used for hiking and closely resembles hiking/mountaineering backpacks. – Source
